Following a strict meal plan can be tough, especially when your sweet tooth kicks in. I have learned tons of tricks that satisfy your sweet tooth without straying from your healthy eating! Try these out and send any of your special concoctions my way! I will continue to update and add to this list, so check back often! YUM!
MY ABSOLUTE FAVORITE GO-TO:
“Sludge” One scoop chocolate protein (I love brownie batter by ForceFactor), one tablespoon peanut butter, enough water to mix into “sludgy” consistency, freeze for 20-30 minutes, enjoy! (Seriously, just as good, IF NOT BETTER than Reeses. I DIE FOR THIS)
(Shout-out and ‘thanks’ goes to Savannah at muffin top-less!)
Frozen Yogurt Drops- drop yogurt by spoonful onto a cookie sheet covered in wax paper, freeze
(you can also stir protein into nonfat or greek yogurt and use this mixture for higher protein/less sugar)
Scoop of cocoa powder in a peppermint tea
“Protein Hot Chocolate” Shake chocolate protein into either milk, water, (or my favorite–half almond milk, half water) once mixed completely, microwave for one minute, stir, microwave addition 30-60 seconds. (Stir partway through heating so protein/milk doesn’t create a weird film at the top) Add cinnamon or sea salt on top for yummy twist
Cheesecake- Chobani greek yogurt makes single servings in many fruit flavors (I like strawberry the best) Open yogurt and stir it up, then freeze for about 20 minutes. You can either stir and freeze a little longer, or stir and eat depending on how hard or soft you like the consistency. Sprinkle with graham cracker crumbs or crumble part of a nature’s valley granola bar onto the top. CHEESECAKE HEAVENLY GOODNESS!
Apple Crisp- Dice apples into small pieces and put into a shallow bowl. Sprinkle desired amount of oatmeal on the top of the apples and add a little water (You don’t need a ton) add a little splenda or sugar free maple syrup and microwave for 30-60 seconds. Apples get soft like pie, syrup seeps in, and oatmeal gets soft and kind of “crust like” around the apples. Try and tell me you didn’t just die and go to heaven.
“Cookie Dough” Bites
- 2/3 cup raw almonds
- 2/3 cup raw walnuts
- 2/3 cup raw oat flakes (see note below)
- 1/4 tsp ground cinnamon
- 1/8 tsp sea salt
- 1/4 cup raw agave nectar
- 2 tsp pure vanilla extract
- 3 tbsp cacao nibs or dark chocolate chips
- In a food processor, process the almonds, walnuts, oats, cinnamon and salt to a fine meal.
- Add the agave nectar and vanilla and process to combine.
- Next, add the cocoa nibs (or chocolate chips) and pulse just to combine.
- Roll the cookie dough into balls about 1 tbsp each (wet your hands if the dough is too sticky) and place them on a cookie pan lined with parchment paper. Place the pan in the freezer for about an hour to firm up. Store balls in a tightly covered container in the freezer.
(I don’t have a food processor, so I just improvised and mixed everything together)
Cover any fruit with Greek Yogurt (the honey greek yogurt is awesome) and freeze!
*Slice a banana and dip in yogurt, freeze. OR dip in peanut butter and freeze
